LOG LINE
Two tv addict potatoes are forced to battle their own laziness when their entertainment takes a deathly turn.
Target Audience
Aimed at an adult audience. Deep, social meanings that only an older audience would pick up on. Working with relatable humour. The potatoes are meant to be repulsive and gross, but their actions should be relatable to anyone.
Synopsis
Sinking deep into their grimy, littered couch, Spud and Tatty are a couple of overweight couch potatoes, who's eyes are completely transfixed to their TV set. Then, suddenly, they are taken out of their hypnotised state when the program changes to a cooking show, and on the menu are potatoes. Now, the potatoes must get the cooking show off the TV as they are traumatised by the impending doom of the potatoes being brutally chopped and cooked. But this is a monumental challenge when they won't move from the sofa.
Design Manifesto (stop-motion)
The style of the stop-motion sections of the film will be grimy in the same vein as some Jan Svankmajer shorts. The mood and tone will be portrayed through use of texture, colour and lighting. The potatoes are slovenly creatures and their depravity of living conditions and lifestyle will be emphasized by the set design and lighting. The potatoes have been modeled on obese people and will reflect this in their shape and texture. We have been doing research and decided upon a kind of cottage cheese cellulite texture for their bodies which will be ingrained with dirt to help make the folds in their bodies more defined.
